Bore Surfer Bothy
The Site
The site is located near the Severn Bridge and the small Village of Aust, in South-Gloucestershire. It is right by the shore of the Severn Estuary, which has the second highest tidal range in the world, at 15m. The estuary is known for the Severn Bore. Bores are present for roughly 130 days of the year and can reach 7ft in height, making them popular with river surfing enthusiasts.
The Brief
Our task was to design a pair of bothies to accommodate 6-8 people, whilst reinterpreting the traditional bothy. We were design them with a certain type of dweller in mind, such as writers, artists or birdwatchers. I chose to design mine for the Severn Bore surfers.
